Hand surgery is one of the few fields entered from two directions, and a department that says so up front is usually one that already has both on the staff and has stopped treating it as a distinction that matters day to day. If you trained through plastics and have spent time being screened out of orthopaedic-only adverts, this is a shorter conversation.
